Kallol Mukherjee is a filmmaker from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, currently based in Mumbai, with over a decade of experience in the industry. A film institute dropout, actively working across independent and commercial cinema. His work has consistently been recognised at prestigious festivals, with three of his films premiering at the International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK) in 2022, 2023, and 2024. His short fiction, The Unowned House, travelled to over ten film festivals and was awarded the First Prize by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. His most recent short film Mic Drop has been widely acclaimed, screening at more than eighteen international festivals, including the Dharamshala International Film Festival, IFFSA Toronto, FilmSouthasia Kathmandu, DCSAFF, Tasveer Film Festival in the United States, Rome International Documentary Festival, DokuBaku in Azerbaijan, Izmir Documentary Festival in Turkey, Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in Mumbai, Festival desCinémas Indiens de Toulouse in France, New York Indian Film Festival, and the Bangalore International Film Festival, Moscow International Documentary Film Festival among others. Alongside his independent projects, Kallol has worked as an Associate and Second Unit Director on a range of commercial films and web series. He has collaborated with several leading production houses and studios, including Applause Entertainment, In10 Media, DocuBay OTT, and Civic Studios. His latest work as Associate Director, The Dupatta Killer, directed by Patrick Graham, is now streaming on DocuBay OTT. Kallol is currently developing his feature film Ardhsatya and is also attached as writer-director for an international OTT feature project.
